Insolvency stalwart named as new Director of Insolvency Australia

Insolvency Australia, the country’s first and only online marketplace for insolvency services, has announced a major growth step, with the announcement of Gareth Gammon as its new Director.

Gammon was previously COO of Jirsch Sutherland, one of the country’s leading and largest independent insolvency specialists. During that time, he helped drive the success of the firm to become a market leader.

Launched in 2021, Insolvency Australia is the only comparison site that lists all the country’s Registered Liquidators and Bankruptcy Trustees. It was created to make it easier for business owners, individuals and advisers to navigate the ‘maze’ of solvency, insolvency and business advisory solutions available to them.

Paul Vincent, Insolvency Australia Director, says the appointment of Gammon comes at a time when the platform will increasingly play a vital role. “As the post-COVID recovery era progresses, there’s expected to be a significant shift, with business directors and individuals – and their accountants – needing to reach out to specialists to help them recalibrate, restructure, recover or possibly exit from their financial challenges,” Vincent says. “Insolvency Australia is committed to providing a useful, independent platform for both those needing specialist support, and also practitioners. As an insolvency and business industry expert, Gareth is well skilled to bring his expertise and insights to the role and ensure that everyone has easy access to a qualified practitioner.”

Gammon says that Insolvency Australia is emerging at a time when insolvency and bankruptcy Google search volumes have increased. “Despite insolvencies being at record lows, with the end of lockdowns and government support measures, we are getting back to a more ‘normal’ playing field,” he says. “According to trade credit insurer Atradius, Australia is set to experience one of the world’s highest cumulative growths in insolvencies into 2022. We are already starting to see ‘cracks’ as businesses navigate the Omicron wave – without any government support.

“We know that those seeking restructuring and insolvency advice – corporate and personal – can struggle to identify the best people to work with. And this is where Insolvency Australia can assist. Our platform offers free search and compare functions, which means directors, accountants and individuals can source the experts that they would like to contact and potentially appoint. Insolvency Australia is the next step in connecting those that need help with those that offer expert assistance.”
